Rudolf Anders and Eugen Nissle, two dedicated company employees, introduce a pioneering innovation to the tea market: they sell blended teas packed in tins for the first time.

The fine art of tea blending, consistently ensuring the same high level of quality despite varying tea harvests, became the basis of the company’s business and earned it international renown.

The “Teefix” trademark, the most widely known brand in Germany even today, and the brand “Pompadour” are registered.

The first tea pack machine came from Sachsen.

The Saxon company begins building tea bag packing machines developed by Adolf Rambold and begins selling them successfully throughout the world. They can produce 35 gauze tea bags per minute without operator intervention – and the first TEEKANNE tea bags are introduced on the market.

A new tea bag generation

A new generation of tea bags is sold under the brand TeeFix and takes the world markets by storm. The new Reliance tea bag machine from TEEKANNE can manufacture 80 of these bags per minute, initially made of perforated cellophane and later of parchment.

The rebuilding of TEEKANNE begins in Viersen am Niederrhein under difficult conditions.

Revolution on the tea market

The double-chamber tea bag, an invention of TEEKANNE, is patented. It revolutionises the tea market. In the double-chamber bag, the tea is filled into two chambers, allowing the water to come into contact with it optimally from all sides. This way, the tea can release its full flavour.

1914

The precursor of the tea bags

During World War I, TEEKANNE supplies soldiers and civilians with good-tasting, lightly sweetened tea portions in gauze bags. These “tea bombs” were the precursors of the modern tea bag, and were initially manufactured by hand.

TEEKANNE in ruinsOn 13 February 1945, three months before the end of the war, the majority of Dresden is destroyed by bombing, and TEEKANNE suffers heavy damage.

The Perfecta tea bag machine, a successor to the Constanta, is introduced on the market. It produces up to 400 double-chamber bags per minute.

New production

The TEEKANNE group builds a new production site in Alicante, Spain, together with the company Pompadour Ibérica S.A. Upon completion, it is the most modern tea factory in the world.

Redco Foods Inc. in Windsor, Connecticut, the third largest company on the US tea market, is acquired.
